Media Exchange is a yearly symposium that brings media industry professionals to the mic to speak to students and guests about the current state of affairs in politics and media. Faith Daniels and John Seigenthaler have hosted this student produced event. I have been a faculty advisor and producer from the very first event held in 2012.
The MAX
The Max is a bi-annual exhibition of student works in imaging, audio, graphic design, journalism and much more. I founded the program in 1999 and it's now part of the fabric of the program. Spotlight Music, Spoken Word and Performance - Website
The Spotlight Showcase is a launching pad for singer/songwriters and performers here at SHU. In 2013 I recorded and produced a CD compilation for 6 of the spotlight artists. You can find those tracks on our website. www.spotlightmusic.us
Paying it Forward
The SHU Spotlight Showcase is the direct result of a hand extended to me in 1986 by my then English teacher Sidney Krupkin. As if it wasn’t enough to be the most engaging educator in my high school he also gave so many students their stage debut as part of the McKinley Rock Ensemble. This yearly concert gave aspiring performers a chance to get on stage and mix it up with faculty, staff, students and alumni. I’m happy to report, Sid is still rockin’ but just in a warmer climate than Buffalo NY. SHU centered artist concert and performance series started in 2013
